Where I choose to stay plays a big part of my experience in a city, and I much prefer hotels with character and a story to tell, hotels with an endearing but idiosyncratic nature. When I travel, I tend to pick hotels that offer something unique, while still providing the basic conveniences – a central location, clean rooms, good service. And coffee.

A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to experience a mini staycation DC at The Quincy DC.

I first went to Chaplin’s in the Shaw neighborhood of DC a few weeks back for drinks. We had already had dinner that night, but looking at the plates of food and steaming hot ramen that went by us, I knew I needed to return soon.

We recently went back with some friends and were seated in the upstairs dining room, with a perfect view of the (silent) Charlie Chaplin movie projected on the wall. As we knew from our previous visit, the drinks are on point. We especially liked the “Woman of Paris”, which is a rye whiskey based cocktail, and “A Dog’s Life “, which is also a whiskey and prosecco drink. Another favorite was The “Vagabond” , a light and refreshing gin and cucumber cocktail.

Escape Room Live DC - A unique exit game experience

Here is the premise. You are locked in a room with a group of 6-8 friends. You have 45 minutes to find clues hidden in the room, solve puzzles, work as a team and get out of there before time runs out. Does that sound fun? Read on to find out more.

I recently tried the Escape Room Live DC and have to say it was one of the most fun activities I have done. This real life exit game experience is designed for groups of 6-12 and is a fun, interactive way to spend time with friends, family, coworkers.

Escape Room DC is in Glover Park, and has 2 game rooms. Once you’ve booked your spot, show up with your group and the awesome Escape Room staff will guide you from there. They provide you with the narrative, explain some dos and don’ts, and then you are locked in! From there, it’s all up to you and your team!
